Pittenweem Arts Festival 2015

Quartet - Weft Textile Studio.

Weft studio exhibited textiles and jewellery by
Jan Shelley, Linda Green, Sue Heathcote and
Roger Morris.The exhibition highlights the
creativity and shared experience of four
award winning designer makers.

'My interest in coracles stems from a project I
worked on several years ago which required
me to harvest water plants from Duddingston
Loch in Edinburgh. I used the plants to make
thread and ultimately new work although I was
regularly soaked in the process of retrieving
them from the Loch. It was at this time that I
thought how nice it would be if could make a
coracle to reach the plants. Not only would it
be a method of transport, it appealed as an
object that could be made from natural
materials and in a sense an extension of my
work as a textile artist.

This coracle is the second I have made which
incorporates similar plant material from
Duddingston Loch.

It has been a thoroughly interesting diversion from the main body of my work although surprisingly connected.'

Clothed by Plants - Kellie Lodging Gallery.

Four artists were chosen to create clothing made by plants using their individual style. All have been inspired by the extraordinary woven grass clothes made by Angus MacPhee and use plants found in their locality including rushes, moss, grass and bog cotton.
